Dynamic, high energy speaking and workshops. “Lighthearted delivery of powerful substance”
  • Working and Playing in "The Zone"

Building on a foundation of over a dozen years of learning from and working with world-class performers in sports, business, medicine, music, and education, this talk uncovers the process of performance. Participants will come to understand that whether we call it "the zone" "flow" or "play" there is a way of being where we are all at our best. They will learn the characteristics of this optimal state and explore how to spend more and more time in the zone.

“Leading a Balanced Life: How to Say NO and Other Tricks”

Many busy people struggle to achieve a balanced life. This session shows that the key aspect of balance is one of choice. Through experiential activities, we explore the power of perspectives and look at what clearly saying “yes” or “no” to various alternatives can mean. Participants will learn how to reduce stress by making and declining requests.

    Humor in the Classroom

Have you heard the saying: “If they're laughing, they may be listening”? Humour and laughter are associated with many positive learning outcomes. This session explores supporting evidence for using humour in teaching and provides several strategies for including humour in course outlines, class sessions, and exams. You don't have to be funny; I'm not.

“The Leader’s Body: Moving to the Next Level”

One of the fastest and most effective ways to change how we are “being” at work and in our lives is by working through the body. Understanding how we currently embody certain strengths and learning how to develop ourselves more fully enables more possibilities and enhanced performance. Using music and movement, participants will explore dispositions and learn practices to expand their repertoire.

    “Courageous Conversations”

This session is based on a project, Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most, developed over ten years at Harvard. We will go through a concrete, step-by-step approach to preparing for and conducting your most challenging conversations. Whether you have to confront your supervisor or deliver bad news, get ready to face the conversation that you have been avoiding!

Creating an Environment for Powerful and Playful Performance

We often blame ourselves for what doesn't work in our lives and our careers. Yet so much of who we are and what we accomplish is influenced by our environment. This talk looks at many specific steps that create a fun-filled and powerfully productive workplace

“People Are More Likely to Do What They Like to Do”

There are many things that we know are good for us, but we don’t do them. Perhaps we can work with our likes and preferences to make choices that serve us better. People are more likely to do what they like to do. Learn why and how to work with this concept.

Inspired and Alive from 9 to 5: Bringing All of You to Work

Are there days when you forget that you exist below the neck? How often do you leave work energized (or are you often depleted)? By accessing the wisdom of the body through playful movement, this workshop will have you discover ways to fill your gas tank throughout the day.

“No more Peeing in the Pool”

Are you tired of constant complaining around the office? What's it like to swim in polluted water all day? This workshop is all about ending the garbage of our communication at work (and the skills apply to the rest of life). Participants will learn how to shift their conversations so they are creating positive energy instead of indulging the usual "trauma sharing" and destructive conversations.

“An Assault on Seriousness: Humour and Laughter in the Workplace”

We’ve all heard that laughter is the best medicine, yet many of us have hardening of the attitudes at work. This talk shows the many, merry merits of bringing humour and laughter to our professional lives. Participants learn how to “HAVALAF” and the power of perspectives. A “laughter club” (breathing, gentle stretching, and laughter exercises) can be included in this session.

          Testimonials

“An evaluation summary for the Alberta Medical Association's Staff Retreat held on June 1, 2007, confirmed your interactive presentation was a big success. Of those that attended your session 88% were satisfied or very satisfied. The message I received from the AMA Retreat Committee was that you were fantastic and this was supported by the comments provided in the evaluations. Below are three that the AMA provided me:

Outstanding, interactive, and relevant to work and life. I particularly like the portion on perspective.’

‘Everyone seemed to get in the mood and participate. It demonstrated a great group dynamic - especially the laughing session. He got everyone involved and clearly conveyed the importance of laughter and not taking ourselves too seriously.’

‘This presentation was excellent. Humor has a place in the workplace and he presented in a fun participatory way.’

I will continue to recommend you to any of our corporate clients in need of a dynamic and entertaining speaker that presents on a topic that is interesting and meaningful and encourages fun group interaction.”
