Peter Bielagus grew up in a small New Hampshire town where he started his first company in 5th grade, a landscaping business called; Lawn Care of Amherst. This one mower operation quickly grew to multiple accounts and year round services from lawn cutting, to tree removal to snow plowing. Wanting a change of scene Peter left New Hampshire to attend college at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. Like many college students, Peter quickly fell into the party scene and soon found himself $5000 in credit card debt his freshman year. Determined to dig his way out of debt, Peter began learning about personal finance, reading over 300 books on the subject, interviewing experts and attending seminars. By graduation, Peter was debt free and on his way to financial security. Wanting to educate students, parents, and professionals about money, Peter decided to write a personal finance guide which he titled, Getting Loaded: A Complete Personal Finance Guide For Students and Young Professionals. Despite not knowing a soul in the publishing business, Peter managed to get his book published by one of the largest publishers in the world, Penguin Putnam/NAL. After graduating, Peter went to work for a national financial company and became the top salesperson in his district in his first year. Peter then opened up his own fee-only financial planning firm, one of the few in the country that caters exclusively to young people. As a licensed financial advisor, Peter has appeared on radio and television shows nationwide talking about personal finance for Young America. Affectionately known as the "Go To Guy For Young People and Their Money ", he is asked to speak frequently to high school and college students about jumpstarting their personal finances. Recently, corporations and parents have called upon him to assist them in getting Young America excited about personal finance. He's been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and the New York Post. Currently Peter is a regular contributor to the nationally syndicated radio show, "Hints From Heloise." He also writes a personal finance column for Boston.com, the website of the Boston Globe newspaper. In addition to writing and speaking, Peter has created many financial education products, including the interactive CD ROM, Mastering Your Personal Finances: the only interactive educational CD ROM on personal finance. Peter travels the country and shares his financial tips and quips in numerous money workshops, seminars and keynotes. Mixing humor and emotion with real life examples, Peter empowers audiences of all ages to get started today on managing their money.
