College Confidence Coach:

From Stress U to Success YOU

Excessive stress and students' inability to deal with emotional overload is the number one factor that leads to binge drinking, depression, insomnia, suicide and other health related campus issues.

For over a decade, Kathleen Hassan has been developing and delivering programs to schools, colleges and universities to help students build resiliency skills against the stressors that negatively impact academic and athletic performance and health.

Research has shown that some stress is actually good for you. For example, before an athletic event or before an exam, students and competitors exhibit increased heart rate and blood pressure which can increase performance and efficiency.   But without the skills to deal effectively with prolonged stress, the result is overload and burnout which can have the exact opposite effect and result in diminished performance.   This program teaches simple and easy to implement skills and tools to help students respond to life's events with greater ease and confidence.

Students will learn:

Breathing techniques & relaxation exercises

Challenge and change self-talk

Visualization and meditation

Body awareness and mindfulness

It is not what happens, but how students respond to what happens that will determine their college and future success

Kathleen Hassan is on a mission of Global Empowerment to transform the self-esteem of girls and women worldwide. For over a decade, Kathleen has been on the front line of women’s issues and a champion of personal power. Author, life coach, motivational speaker and self-esteem expert, Kathleen has brought her message to schools, college campuses and youth and women’s conferences throughout the United States.

Kathleen motivates adults and inspires teens to unleash their potential and unlock their personal power towards self-confidence and success. Her message of self-worth, vision and personal power comes from her real-life experience of turning tragedy into triumph and obstacles into opportunities. Surviving the loss of her dad when she was ten and her mother when she was sixteen makes her uniquely qualified to help kids better handle the challenges of adolescence amidst adversity. Her own life's lessons have become the foundation and core philosophy of her business which is based on love, compassion and a deep commitment to help people create a balanced life of peace, prosperity and true happiness.

Kathleen has developed and delivered programs on the topics of self-esteem, leadership, attitude, stress management and the power of choice. She is the author of Girls' Voices... Good Choices, a curriculum for teenage girls. She is the co-author of an anthology book entitled The Burning Heart of a Difference Maker and recently wrote a tip booklet for high school students entitled College Bound: How to Write a Winning College Essay.

Kathleen is also the author of two audio learning programs called Tuning In: Inspiration for Transformation and If You’re Happy & You Know It: Feeling Your Way Back to Joy, and is currently writing a book for teen girls entitled Loving the Girl in the Mirror: Reflections of Your True Self. Author and producer of a monthly electronic newsletter – Shine! which goes out to over 1500 subscribers.

She has received praise and acclaim from principals, politicians and parents but her greatest honor by far has been the outpouring of admiration from the youth themselves. Here are just two examples: “You found your place in every girl’s heart. You gave us hope that women can reach their goals, and you told us that it was “cool” to be ourselves.” “She talks to us, not at us or down to us. After listening to her, I realized that I am capable of anything as long as I believe in myself.”
In 1998, as the host and producer of a year-long cable series The Bright Side, she was awarded the Best Series Award from the New England Women in Cable & Telecommunications. She has been a regular guest appearing on many local shows including Channel 5’s Chronicle, and is a consultant and producer of several programs on teen self-esteem.
Kathleen also speaks to teachers, parents, companies and associations who want a keynote speaker to impact their audience with a message of power and possibilities, delivered with humor and hope for a brighter future. Never has this message been more needed in our world today. Self-mastery lies in the moment we make conscious choice. Kathleen teaches people the tools to discipline and harness the power of our thoughts to move from the outer layers of fear, doubt and worry into a new realm of peace, prosperity and power.
